Michelle Mullady and Angel Santiago decided to launch the "Wings of Light" group to awaken the world of community service to our children as a path for future peacemakers. After sharing these ideas with several other parents and guardians, we found that they were also interested in getting involved with the children in their lives to learn about being of service as an act of love in the world. This meetup group is open to the public and welcomes both adults and children of all ages. We will be getting together monthly at various locations to explore the unlimited options to bring the light of [...]
Going beyond the overwhelming wall of fears and worries comes up when change is upon us, what you'll realize that the wall is just an obstacle to pass through on our journey towards Self-realization.
What are we? This question came about because of a conversation I had with someone who recently lost a loved one. We got to talking about death, what is it? What happens after we die? I told her that it depended on what do you believe we are. There are two perspectives:
that we are human beings looking for a spiritual awakening or,
that we are divine, eternal, spiritual beings dealing [...]
I want to ask you a question, do you really know is what is important to you? It is important to explore and know where you are in life today for two reasons, 1) so that you can be intentional about your life and 2) so that you can understand yourself better and remove some of the challenges you are facing today preventing you from living the life you want. A life of meaning, purpose, significance and a life where you are able to contribute - to do something beyond yourself.
There's two main focuses in life, one is achievement, you know, the things you go after that most consider success, [...]
I spent this past week in a Spiritual Psychology Conference in Canada. Most of the attendees were wise people between the ages of 40-80. Over the past couple of years, I've been developing or theorizing my own blueprint for healthy relationship. It occurred to me that being around so much wisdom and life experience, why not ask them for what works and has helped them make their relationships work. First, let me share with you what I've been thinking for my blueprint.
Friendship comes first - really put in the time to develop a healthy and genuine relationship with that person. [...]
When I teach Meditation to someone, the first thing I invite them to learn is stillness. One can't even begin to gain control of ones emotional nature and thoughts if you can't gain control over ones own body - which we actually have control over. My suggestion is to choose a time - either morning or night - and a place in their house that feels good to you; whatever you choose, that will be your daily time and place. The most important thing to do, is to forget/let go of any concepts or ideas you have about meditation. Make a ritual of it, by turning off the lights, lighting a [...]
According to Roberto Assagioli, founder of psychosynthesis psychology, there are seven main paths of Spiritual or Transpersonal realization. The paths are not sharply divided; in fact, they often overlap. Some people may follow two or three paths at the same time; this is because each of us have different ways or qualities manifesting in the different aspects or levels of our being. But all paths are directed to and lead to the same great goal - self realization or finding our true self; therefore, the more balanced you are, the greater the overlapping and the blending of the paths. Here [...]
"I think therefore I am not, only when the mind is silent I am" - unknown Do you remember the old cartoons that showed a character talking to a little angel version of them and a little devil version of them on his shoulders? We'll thats the internal battle of good vs evil we all have - the EGO(lil devil) vs true self(lil angel, God). There is an old Cherokee legend of an old Cherokee elder teaching his grandson about life. He said a fight is going on inside me,it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, [...]
2014...what can I say about 2014. Well, as I begin to look forward to 2015, I have look back at 2014 and all its lessons. I lost a job over MLK weekend in early January and I felt no stress, no fear and no anxiety over it, why? because up to that point my faith in the way life works and how everything that happens to you is always working for you never against you was strong and solid - unshakable - or so I thought. I then had the time to invest in some personal goals I had and help create good things for the dance community I was a part of. And just when things were smooth sailing, [...]
